Paleo Chocolate Brownie

This brownie recipe makes: 16 squares

Serving size: 1 square – Make time: 35 mins (10 mins preparing, 25 mins baking)


  • 200g Kumara – raw, peeled
  • ½ cup melted coconut oil
  • ½ cup honey
  • 2 whole large eggs
  • ½ cup cocoa powder or raw cacao powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • Garnish with: 10 pecans


  1. Preheat oven to 180 °C
  2. Grate/food process the kumara until it is finely chopped
  3. In a large bowl mix together the kumara, oil, honey and eggs
  4. Add in the cocoa, coconut and baking soda. Mix well.
  5. Line a slice tin or container with non-stick baking paper and pour the brownie batter into the tin
  6. Top with pecans (optional) and place in the oven
  7. Bake for 25 mins or until the centre is firm to touch and a skewer inserted comes out dry
